Day 2 - Virginia to Atlanta

Today we joined all the truckers headed south. We left our friends the Malloys in Fairfax, VA about 06:30AM and took I81 to Fort Chiswell, VA, I77 to Charlotte, NC and I85 to Atlanta.  I will say these interstates are all in good shape and it was a pretty easy drive. Fuel in the south is a bargain, diesel is well under $2/gallon, pretty sweet.

June making a 'sammich' for lunch on the road.

The highways were full of trucks but we really had no traffic slow downs until arriving in Atlanta timed perfectly once again for rush hour.  It was not as bad as DC, but we spent a good hour to get about 25 miles around the Atlanta Beltway.

We arrived at our friends Brian and Riyon about 6:30 PM, we traveled roughly 660 miles in just about 12 hours with stops, about what we expected.  They have a nice long driveway, great for boondocking in our RT for the night.  They took us out to dinner at a very nice place called the Country Kitchen, it was awesome.

Today we are not in a rush and will make our way to Randy and Sue's in the afternoon sometime. We are looking forward to just chilling in the nice temps, it was in the mid 70's yesterday but we spent most of it on the road.

All in all not bad so far, Fred does all the driving.
Good dinner with great friends (they are everywhere). It is raining today but should clear up this afternoon. Very green here.
